30 December 2000 | Multiplayer Mayhem
This should be the penultimate status report - next time I hope to be able to finally tell you that the game is finished. Sorry I didn't get it out by Christmas, but hopefully you'll find the wait was worth it. Anyway, here's what I've added to the game since last time.
- Multiplayer support. Yes, you read that right. Payback now supports a deathmatch multiplayer mode with support for up to four players. This was quite a lot of work because the game was never originally designed to support multiplayer so a lot of code needed to be changed, but the results were definitely worth it. I've included some new screenshots of the multiplayer mode in action.
- CD32 controller support has been added.
- A couple more bugs were fixed, including one that could cause a recoverable guru. All fixed now though.
- A lot of the textures were replaced or improved - you can see the new ones in the latest screenshots.
- The photoshoot for the box cover and adverts was completed. I'll try to include the finished images in next month's update.
That's it for this time. Hope you had a merry Christmas and I wish you a happy New Year. See you in January!
